Ben Massmann - Managing Member

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Ben Massmann has a broad education and experience in the field of construction and architecture, and can provide services for planning, design, site analysis, project management, and consulting.  His experience prior to founding Massmann + Affiliates was with SHW Group, a full service Architectural Planning firm specializing in eduactional facilities. 

Ben served as a project manager at SHW Group for nearly five years.  He managed multimillion dollar projects, providing services directly to the client, guiding the programming, design, and development of construction documents, coordinating consultants, and administering construction with contractors.  He performed facility assessments for multiple school campuses.  Additionally, he aided in the passing of a bond election for needed educational buildings in Sherman ISD.

Previously, Ben worked as an assistant construction superintendent for a general contractor, and had an internship at Aker Gulf Marine as an Intern Engineer.  He also served six years as a Technical Engineering Specialist and Combat Engineer with the 111th Eng. Battalion of the Texas Army National Guard. 

Mr. Massmann holds a Masters in Architecture and a BS in Civil Engineering, both from Texas Tech University.  He is a licensed architect in the state of Texas.  He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), is qualified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and is an Army National Guard veteran.

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY 

Mr. Massmann is a successful financial professional with over 30 years of proven expertise in management and consulting. He serves as the administrative member of the firm and can provide strategic planning and financial consulting to clients.  In addition to serving as an independent financial consultant, his business career has included senior financial positions with Tractor Supply Co.(NASDAQ TSCO), W.R. Grace & Co. and Price Waterhouse.

Most recently, Cal served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Tractor Supply Co. where he was responsible for establishing new financing arrangements including bank credit lines and third party customer credit facilities during a high growth period. Additionally, Mr. Massmann provided financial guidance related to the acquisition and development of distribution center and retail store real estate.
 
Mr. Massmann previously served as the Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer of a NASDAQ listed public company that performed construction projects and provided engineering services.  During his tenure, the company established new bonding agreements, returned to profitability, and repaid its entire bank debt from internal cash flow.

Previously, Cal was a Price Waterhouse Senior Manager with responsibility for a full range of client engagements including retailers, real estate developers and fast growth high tech clients.
 
Mr. Massmann holds an MBA from the University of Southern California and a BS in Business Administration from California State University-Northridge. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Texas and California and has fulfilled the Texas Education Certification requirements for teaching Secondary Business Education. He has lectured in accounting and finance at San Jose State University and has been a presenter at The CFO Summit and the "Scarlett Leadership Institute" at Belmont University. He has served on the Boards of the US Bank Nashville, Locus Technologies and the Dispute Mediation Center of Dallas, and is a United States Navy veteran.
